Exploring the Kenai Peninsula

Arrive: Tuesday, August 3th, Anchorage

 

Activities: Recovering from flight, swimming, relaxing
Accommodations: University Lake Springhill, Marriot, Swimming pool, whirlpool, weight room

 

Wednesday, August 4th, Anchorage to Seward

 

Activities: Drive to Seward and visit Wildlife Conservation Center (www.alaskawildlife.org) on way. Arrive at Miller’s Landing in Seward (www.millerslandingak.com) and check into Admiral’s Cabin.

 

Explore Miller’s Landing campus along with stroll down to the beach looking for sea stars and sea shells. Hike Kings Head trail on Lowell Point.

 

Breakfast: Free meal served at hotel; cereals, oatmeal, fruit, pastries, juice, coffee, tea

 

Lunch: Ham and turkey sandwiches, chips, fruit, drinks

 

Dinner: Chinook’s (www.chinooksak.com)

 

2 Hours English Conversation Lessons

 

Thursday, August 5th, Seward-Miller’s Landing

Activities: Best of Alaska Tour (4 hours sea kayaking, 4 hours fishing, 4 hours nature viewing)

 

Enjoy a 4 hour paddle in Aialik Bay or Northwestern Fiord at one of the amazing tidewater glaciers, and 4 hours of sport fishing on the way home for salmon and rock fish. Lunch provided.

 

Breakfast: Cereal, oatmeal, fruit, pastries, juice, coffee, tea

Dinner: All American bacon cheeseburgers with all the fixings, fries, and Cokes

 

Friday, August 6th, Seward-Miller’s Landing

Activities: 3.2 mile round trip hike to Exit Glacier with 1400 foot elevation gain. Will include small mountain climbing. Described as incredibly beautiful hike with full taste of Alaskan natural beauty.

 

Be sure to bring your camera!

 

Breakfast: Mountain Man breakfast: Skillet meal cooked in frying pan, with bacon & sausage, onion, hash browns, eggs, and grated cheddar cheese, coffee, tea, juice

 

Lunch: Portable chicken-roast beef-pork sandwiches, veggies with ranch, fruit, granola bars, water

 

Dinner: BBQ with new friends at Seward Teen Center

 

2 Hours English Conversation Lessons

Saturday, August 7th, Seward-Miller’s Landing

Activities: 6 hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise. Get on board the catamaran with a real Park Ranger and enjoy an up close experience with an active calving glacier. Also see whales, sea otters, stellar sea lions, harbor seals, puffins, eagles, and seabirds. Enjoy prime rib or salmon for lunch. Alaska at its best!

 

Breakfast: Eggs, bacon, hash browns, coffee, tea, juice

 

Dinner: Seward Brewing Company (www.sewardbrewery.com)

2 Hours English Conversation Lessons

Sunday, August 8th & Monday August 9th, Cooper Landing-Quartz Creek Campground

Activities: Leave Seward & Miller’s Landing and drive to Cooper Landing. Set up camp at Quartz Creek campground between Kenai Lake and Quartz Creek. Enjoy rock skipping on smooth lake water, learning how to build a camp fire, learning how to build a lean-to, and overall enjoying one of the most beautiful places on earth. Group will participate in scavenger hunts, group games, and exercises. Water sports and possible fishing will be available.

 

Breakfast: Pancakes, eggs, bacon cooked over the fire. Coffee, tea, juice, and water

Lunch: Assorted sandwiches and noodles, fruit, chips, and drinks

 

Dinner: Killer Bucket of Meat and Beans: Sautéed hamburger, bacon, and onions slow cooked with kidney, black, garbanzo, and baked beans. BBQ sauce, ketchup, molasses, and mustard added for an amazing taste. Served with green salad and drinks.

Activities: Drive to Anchorage. Check in to hotel. See fish swimming at Ship Creek (www.alaska.org/detail/ship-creek-lower), take a walk on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail (www.anchoragecoastaltrail.com)

 

Accommodations: University Lake Springhill Suites (Aug. 10, 11, 12)

 

Breakfast: cereals, oatmeal, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, at hotel.

 

Lunch: All-American classic hamburger at McDonald’s! And 11th, Hulahan’s Hawaiian

Dinner: One of the country’s best pizzas at Moose’s Tooth Pub and Pizzeria (www.moosestooth.net) And 11th, Fine Japanese cuisine.

Wednesday, August 11th,

 

Activities: Visit Alaska Native Heritage Center (www.alaskanative.net), Kinkaid Park (www.alaska.org/detail/kincaid-park), Anchorage Museum (www.anchoragemuseum.org ). Visit University of Alaska/ Anchorage (www.uaa.alaska.edu ) and/ or Alaska Pacific University (www.alaskapacific.edu)

Lunch: Lucky Wishbone (Luckywishboneak, Facebook)

 

Dinner: Graduation Ceremony and Closing Events @ Simon and Seafort’s (simonandseaforts.com)

Activities: Prepare for flight, fly home
